For my dramatic right knee situation I decided to get a small bucket of boiling hot water and a flannel to tab at it to relax my muscles. After the third dip and tab I stupidly drop the flannel in the water and have to therefore reach in to grab it with my hands. I instantly feel the burning heat against my delicate skin and remove my hands as quickly as possible. I then analyse the sensations in which I was feeling and come to the conclusion that I felt intense heat, pain and the strain in my fingertips. I observe the fact that these sensations passed away as quickly as they arose. This technique really seems to work for everything. Having realised such, I calmly replace the tips of my fingers into the boiling water. As I leave them in the bucket, I continue to observe the sensations. Sure enough the originally negative feelings disappeared. I dunked them in further and observed increasing sensations. Again after they were acknowledged, they mentally disappeared. I kept on doing this until my whole hand was calmly and happily submerged into the burning hot and steaming water. To me the fascination of how some simple mental training can enable you do such was simply mind-blowing.
