So I met a great bunch of Mormons. India was the last place I expected to meet such a group of people but interested in their religion I was indeed. I harassed each of them with numerous questions; some normal and inquisitive and others just plain strange. I got their individual thoughts on arranged marriage, relationship age gaps, the consequences of sex before marriage and even whether they could be with someone who wasn’t pure. It was this final question of ‘purity’ which intrigued me the most. When asked separately on different occasions they all came up with the same after that if people had sinned (had sex outside of marriage) and try are truly sorry for their actions, they can ask God for forgiveness and repent. If they truly did such, then no one I asked would have any issues with considering them as their future potential husband/wife.
Everything they had to say sounded so lovely and simple. Other than for friendly English/American banter, they never said anything that made me think ‘Well that’s stupid and pointless’. Maybe it’s their religion which I gained respect for. Or maybe it was just them as people.
But interested in such a religion I am. And proof of such, I even stayed longer with them so that I could attend church, something I have only done once at the age of around 11 unless for weddings and funerals!! So SUPER grateful for The Book of Mormon as a goodbye gift from the girls, I am. It really was AWESOME of them to do so. And treasure it always I will.
